Official BitTorrent Remote Client Debuts On The Android Market
When talking of popular Peer-To-Peer (P2P) file sharing media that allow users to download large chunks of data onto their computers, it is hard to look beyond the pioneering services of BitTorrent. The company recently introduced BitTorrent Remote, a web service that provides you secure remote access to your BitTorrent data over the internet, and now, that service has made its way to Android. The official BitTorrent Remote client for Android is now available in the Market for free. Using the app, users can enjoy total remote control of torrent downloads in progress on their PCs via their devices. Not only does the client let you view your BitTorrent downloads, labels and RSS feeds, it can also be used to add, pause or resume a download, remove a torrent file from the list, sort torrents by name, size, date or completion status, get detailed info about each torrent (such as the file size, download status, ratio, upload/download speed, seeds and peers), view content included within the download package and access downloaded content right on your device.
The app has been designed to work with the official BitTorrent desktop client that can be downloaded from the BitTorrent website. Alternatively, you may visit the BitTorrent Remote website to download the client and to learn more about the remote service in particular along with the method to sign up for a new account.
You must be logged in with valid BitTorrent Remote credentials in order to use the mobile client. Registered users can easily log in to the mobile client using their BitTorrent Remote account, but there is no option to sign up for a new account from within the app. To get a fresh account, you must launch the desktop client on your PC, click on Options > Preferences > Remote, check the Enable BitTorrent Remote Access option and feed a Computer name and Password of your choice. You must then feed in the same information into the mobile client to gain control of your torrent downloads via your device.
Once you’ve successfully logged into the mobile client, you can remotely manage all your torrents. The app, upon each execution, syncs data with the remote client and displays all the torrent downloads that have been completed as well as those currently being downloaded/seeded. On the app’s homescreen, you also have the buttons for your Labels as well as RSS feeds.
New torrents can be added either by feeding in the URL of the torrent file manually or by hitting the download link of a torrent file while surfing the web. All such links will, by default, be opened in the mobile client.
On the customization front, you may use the app’s settings screen (tap Menu > Settings) to avail the automatic sign-in feature (by saving your password within the client). Also, from the same screen, you may specify the interval after which the client checks for new updates (Update Interval), enable/disable downloading over 2G/3G connections and define Max Upload/Download Rate for your torrents.

iOnRoad is an Android app that, through its augmented reality driving assistance, real-time collision detection and automatic audio-visual alert feature, ensures that you always drive safe and stay alert of potential traffic accidents, making it an extremely handy tool for novice drivers. The app uses Android’s native camera and sensors to predict the time-gap until collision with another vehicle and warns the drivers accordingly.
Using iOnRoad is simple. All you need to do is mount your device (in horizontal position) on your car’s dashboard or windshield mount (stand) with its camera lens facing forward. Make sure that iOnRoad is activated on your device with your device’s horizontal and vertical levels (option to check said levels within the app) adjusted to perfection. In case you’re driving your way to some unavoidable danger, the app alerts you through separate audio and video warnings based on its various calculations. The green, yellow and/or red indicators on the vehicles moving ahead of you notify you of headway distance (time to collide) along with alert sounds so that you can adjust your speed accordingly.
For the app to work effectively, make sure that a strong internet connection and GPS is activated on your device. To ensure that you do not have to leave app’s interface to access various phone features such as the dialer, navigation, gallery and music, iOnRoad contains shortcuts to all mentioned applications. The app even lets you change the applications that each of the four shortcuts launch. This can be done from within the app’s settings screen. Automatic Driving Detection feature of iOnRoad keeps it actively running in the background while you’re busy driving. In this way, the app keeps you ever-alert of potential threats on road in case you’re about to undergo that moment of lapse in concentration.
The app offers ample customization options so that you can adjust the app according to your personal driving preferences. You may toggle various Activation settings such as Automatic driving detection (a handy feature, provided the device is mounted to a windshield mount), Bring iOnRoad to foreground (to automatically display app’s interface when active) and automatically Close iOnRoad when device is unmounted from the windshield mount. You may also adjust separate Minimum Battery Levels to keep the app active when your device is running on battery or when it is connected to the charger.
In addition, you can modify various Display settings such as toggling the Opposite display on/off (flip the app’s display to adjust with left-hand driving). There is also an option to change Temperature scale (units) and Speed units (kph or mph). Tapping on Car information on the settings screen lets you change the information that the app should display. You can select to display gap (in time) between your car and the one just ahead you, your distance from the car and/or your car’s speed.
From the Sounds & Alerts settings menu, you can toggle various settings on/off, such as Activation Sounds (along with an option to play them in full volume) and Headway Distance Monitor (in case you’re driving too close to the vehicle ahead). You can also specify crash alert time for comparatively tighter situations.
The app allows you to toggle Snapshot burst mode on/off which can be availed to take 3 snapshots in a row with just a single tap while driving. All these customization features are there to ensure that once you’re set out on a journey with the app activated, you don’t fall an easy prey to your negligence. Even if you do, iOnRoad won’t!

BACK UP FIRST
1. Backup first! This is very important as it will wipe out
everything in your Galaxy Y, including installed apps, text messages,
contacts, EVERYTHING! It will reset your phone to factory settings.
1.a To backup your phone, make sure you have enough space in your
microSD. Go to recovery mode by turning the Galaxy Y off and after it
vibrates (meaning its totally off), press and hold Power Button + Volume Up + Home Button until the Galaxy Y Young logo appears.
1.b Now that you’re in recovery mode, select “Apply Update fro SDCard” using the volume down and up button and press the home button as enter. Look for “Skin1980-GT-S5360 CWM.zip” and press Home button/enter. It will go to ClockWorkMod recovery menu.
1.c In the recovery menu choose, “Back up and Restore” and choose “Backup“.
Confirm the backup process and wait until it finishes backing-up your
phone. Make sure it’s a 100% backup and you encountered no errors during
the backup process.

I often switch how loud my email notifications and phone ringtone are. The Volume Control + allows you to add a widget to a home screen for easy access to all of your volume levels
There’s some confusion out there in the Android world. Google Now is not Android’s “Siri killer”, that’s Voice Search (which you can get to and use from within Google Now). Google Now is much, much more than an application that listens to queries and spits out answers. I’m not even sure we can call Google Now a virtual assistant either. Google Now is about automating your life and in return, making your life easier. Google Now does that by providing a vast amount of information, pertinent to you, at your fingertips. There’s just one catch though. Those of your that often go full tin foil hat mode really won’t be able to fully enjoy Google Now to its’ full potential. So take off your head gear and let’s get started.
[Google Now] tells you today’s weather before you start your day, how much traffic to expect before you leave for work, when the next train will arrive as you’re standing on the platform, or your favorite team’s score while they’re playing. And the best part? All of this happens automatically. Cards appear throughout the day at the moment you need them.
How to setup Google Now
To get started, you’ll first need to launch Google Now from either your lock screen by swiping up towards the ‘Google’ icon or by swiping up from any of your soft keys. You can press in and swipe up from the back arrow, home key, and recents key.
If you haven’t launched Google Now until…now… you’ll need to tap through the welcome screen setup.
Now go ahead and scroll down the to very bottom and tap the 3 dots (menu button) in the bottom right corner. This will launch the Google Now / Voice Search settings. Tap Google Now to customize your Google Now cards.
You can also view Sample Cards and configure them from the Google Now home screen. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and tap “Show sample cards”.
Most of you will probably need to leave these settings set to default until you get a better feel for Google Now and what information you wish to have at your fingertips, without having to dig through your phone. Now that you have your cards setup, you need to populate them with some data. You can do that by using Voice Search. You can tap the microphone icon and search for your favorite sports team, weather, restaurant, flight numbers, or anything related to the sample cards provided for you.
For example: “What’s the weather today?” “Do the Yankee’s play today?” “I’m hungry for Chinese food”. You get the idea.
Now you privacy folks you’ll need to remove your tin foil hats for the next part. As I said earlier, to fully get the most of of Google Now, you’ll need to setup a few more tasks revolving around your location.
For your location settings, first head back into the Google Now settings and tap Privacy accounts. By default, all of these settings should be enabled.
Next, tap Manage location settings. This will take you into Maps settings. For best results, you’ll want location history enabled.
Next, so that Google Now can identify your home and work address correctly (instead of your favorite place to hangout) launch Maps. Now select Location history. From here you’ll have the option to configure your home and work locations. (Yes, I work more than 21 hours a week on average. My building at work doesn’t provide the greatest GPS window.)
Now you have Google Now setup and ready to show you some cards. You should start seeing cards immediately for weather, distance to work / home, and possibly other locations. If you’re near a bus station you may see that data populate right away as well. As mentioned earlier, you’ll want to start using Voice Search and searching for other card related items to let Google Now know you’re interested. After you start putting information into Google Now, you’ll start to see cards show up in your notifications. Just tap on them to view them or at anytime you can swipe up from your soft keys or home screen.
Tips and Tricks
Once you close or swipe away a card in Google Now or from your notifications, it isn’t gone, don’t worry. It will come back the next time data for that card changes. For example: if you swipe away your weather, it won’t come back until your location changes or your weather information changes.
You can force cards to reappear by tapping the menu icon at the bottom of Google Now and tapping the refresh button. If you’re still having problems, you can always go into Google Now settings, flip the toggle switch off, reboot, and then re-enable Google Now. You shouldn’t have to do this though.
Add locations to your Calendar events. Google Now will then give you a notification when you need to leave to arrive on time.
If you’ve used Latitude to Check-in to many businesses in your area, you may start to see those show up in Google Now. If you just swipe those away, they’ll keep coming back. When these cards are shown, you have the option to no longer track those places by tapping the settings.
Enabling Web History drastically improves the functionality of Google Now. You can control these settings at www.google.com/dashboard.
